Aston Martin Undergoing Internal Restructuring in Formula 1
Aston Martin is currently undergoing a period of internal restructuring in Formula 1, and Enrico Cardile is one of the key players in this process. Recently appointed as the team’s technical director, the Italian has made it clear that the team does not intend to copy models from its rivals, such as Ferrari, where he worked for 19 years.
In an interview with the team’s official website, Cardile highlighted the cultural differences between the Maranello-based team and Aston Martin, emphasizing that while the goal of winning is the same, the structure of the teams is distinct. According to him, Aston Martin is still in the process of building processes and tools, such as the new wind tunnel and simulator, in addition to seeking a more streamlined organization.
“I think there is a cultural difference,” he stated. “The objectives are the same: everyone is focused on winning, but the Ferrari F1 team has a very long and stable history, with established processes and tools. Here, we are still building these things.”
He also explained that one of his first messages to the group was the importance of creating its own identity. “It’s good to seek inspiration from other places, but copying the way things are done elsewhere is not the way.”
Aligned with Newey, Cowell, and Stroll, Cardile stated that the focus is on developing the team’s strengths and correcting its weaknesses. “We want to be the reference, not a copy of the existing reference,” he said. “I have a clear vision and a clear plan of what we need to do to improve the organization.”
