Lewis Hamilton stated that his first pole position with Ferrari in Formula 1 brings back memories of watching Michael Schumacher as he grew up following the sport.
The seven-time champion managed to beat George Russell by 0.009 seconds to claim pole on the Mexican Grand Prix grid. This marks the first time he will start from the front with the Maranello team and the first pole since 2023.

“Securing pole position, finally achieving a pole with Ferrari, takes me back to the days when I was a child, sitting on the sofa, watching Michael clinch those poles and thinking: ‘how cool would it be to do that?’,” he told Sky Sports.
“It was a dream my family shared with me, and I know that many people around the world grew up watching Michael. Reaching this point in my career and still having that special feeling, 105 poles—the number, in a sense, doesn’t mean much; what matters is that it feels like the first.”
“A few years ago, I spoke about the possibility of experiencing ‘first times’. It seems that, when you reach the milestone of forty, those first experiences might be behind you, but I’m living these ‘first times’ this year, and I’m in a very good moment,” he concluded.
