MotoGP Cancels Australian Grand Prix Due to Poor Visibility at Phillip Island

October 25, 2026

The MotoGP canceled the Australian Grand Prix, the 18th round of the 2026 season. The race, which was scheduled to be held in the early hours of this Sunday (25) at the Phillip Island circuit, did not take place due to adverse weather conditions in the vicinity of the racetrack, which also prevented the Moto2 and Moto3 races from being held. The difficulties stemmed from the lack of a proper overhead clearance to allow the medical helicopter to take off if needed.

After a dry Friday and a rainy Saturday, the bad weather worsened on Sunday. The program, which was set to begin at 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, Brasília time, was delayed to 9:00 p.m. at first, still with the MotoGP warm-up. Some time later, the schedule was moved to 11:00 p.m., and later to 1:00 a.m., now without the warm-up.
