Marc Márquez assumed the lead of the MotoGP championship after the Sprint at the Australian GP, the 18th round of the 2026 season. The Ducati rider won the short race held at the Phillip Island circuit in the early hours of this Saturday (24), and with Jorge Martín’s crash, which injured his arm and sidelined him from Sunday’s race, he reached 365 points, opening a ten-point gap to his rival.
Martín, who sits on 355 points, will remain in second place regardless of Sunday’s result, since Marco Bezzecchi, his Aprilia teammate, is third with 315 points. Pedro Acosta, with 263, holds the fourth position, while Ai Ogura completes the list of the top five in the championship with 259 points.

Fabio Di Giannantonio is sixth with 252, while Raúl Fernández, on 236, appears seventh in the standings. Álex Márquez occupies eighth place with 181, just ahead of Francesco Bagnaia, ninth with 166. Fermín Aldeguer closes the top ten with 125. Diogo Moreira advanced to 14th with 76 points.
The Australian MotoGP Grand Prix will be contested on Sunday, with a start scheduled for midnight.
