Peugeot has announced its test and development driver Alex Quinn will step up to its FIA World Endurance Championship race lineup in 2027.
Quinn joined the team towards the end of last year after a successful first run in the 9X8 Hypercar in last year’s end-of-season rookie test in Bahrain.
Now the 25-year-old Briton becomes a part of the driver roster that will campaign the upgraded 9X8 next year on a multi-year agreement, becoming Peugeot’s second new 2027 signing after ex-Ferrari driver Robert Shwartzman.
“Becoming an official driver for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in the FIA World Endurance Championship is a dream come true,” said Quinn. “It has been fantastic working with the team throughout this year, both at the factory and during testing programs.
“Stepping up to a full-time race seat is something I am incredibly excited about and something I feel ready for after my recent successes in other championships.
“Most importantly, I am extremely grateful to everyone at Team Peugeot TotalEnergies for this opportunity, and I hope this is the beginning of an exciting journey together.”
Alongside his Peugeot duties, Quinn has spent this year racing LMP2 machinery full-time in the European Le Mans Series for Nielsen Racing and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for CrowdStrike Racing by APR, winning the title in the latter.
He also won the LMP2 Pro-Am division in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside George Kurtz and Laurin Heinrich driving for the same team.
Peugeot team principal Emmanuel Esnault commented: “We are delighted to promote Alex from a role of test and development driver to a full-time race driver role in 2027.
“Alex has demonstrated great abilities at the wheel of the car when testing with us and sporting achievements in LMP2 again this season.
“Alex’s pedigree is quite impressive as a Le Mans winner in LMP2 Pro-Am, a Rolex Daytona LMP2 winner, and a IMSA and ELMS race winner.
“This is the second time that at Peugeot, we are promoting a young talent coming from the LMP2 landscape into a race driver role in LMH, and we are looking forward to race with him next year at the wheel of the evolved Peugeot 9X8.”
Confirmation of Quinn likely completes Peugeot’s 2027 race lineup, with Jean-Eric Vergne expected to return after spending a year on the sidelines and Paul di Resta, Nick Cassidy and Loic Duval all expected to remain with the team next year.
Stoffel Vandoorne drove his last race for Peugeot last month at Fuji, while Malthe Jakobsen and Theo Pourchaire are both set to depart the squad.
Peugeot has yet to confirm who will replace Vandoorne in its No. 93 crew for the remaining rounds of the current season at Barcelona and Monza, but Quinn being handed an early Hypercar debut appears to be the most likely scenario.
