Moto2: Guevara Takes Pole at Motegi as González Starts from Third

Izán Guevara clinched pole in the early hours of Saturday, the 3rd, for the Japanese Grand Prix, the 16th round of the 2026 Moto2 season. In the final phase of the qualifying at the Motegi circuit, the Pramac rider recorded his best lap in 1:46.851, earning the top position for the morning’s race.

The second spot went to Filip Salac, rider for American Racing Team, who was edged by Guevara by 0.051 seconds. Manuel González, leader of the championship and rider for Intact GP, completed the front row in third place. Daniel Holgado, from Aspar, lined up fourth, just ahead of Tony Arbolino, fifth aboard a Fantic. David Alonso closed the top six with the other Aspar machine.

Iván Ortolá will start seventh on an MSI bike, sharing the third row with Adrian Huertas of Italtrans and Celestino Vietti of SpeedRS. Senna Agius, from Intact GP, will take off in tenth place, while Deniz Oncu starts the race from eleventh. Completing the list of the 12 fastest on the grid is Zonta van der Goorbergh of RW Racing.

The Moto2 Japanese Grand Prix will take place in the early hours of this Sunday, the 3rd, with the start slated for 0:15.
