The start of the Bahrain Grand Prix of Formula 1, held in Sepang, was officially postponed due to the heavy rain that struck the circuit shortly before the scheduled start time. A new start time has not yet been announced.
The expectation is that conditions will improve in the coming minutes, allowing the race to be run safely. So far, the organizers have not indicated how long the delay will last.
The postponement does not automatically reduce the time available for the race. Under Formula 1 regulations, the maximum three-hour limit for the race only begins to count once the event is actually started.
Because the start was only postponed, this clock is not running yet. This means that the waiting period before the start will not be deducted from the time available to run the Grand Prix.
Consequently, the decision on the new start time will directly depend on how the weather evolves in Sepang.
