Yuki Tsunoda will return to the Formula 1 grid at the Dutch Grand Prix. The Japanese driver was confirmed by Racing Bulls to substitute Liam Lawson in Zandvoort, after the New Zealander was summoned by Red Bull to fill Isack Hadjar’s seat.
The change was prompted by a wrist injury Hadjar sustained during the summer break. Unable to compete in the event, the Red Bull driver will be replaced by Lawson, opening up space for Tsunoda to return to Racing Bulls alongside Arvid Lindblad.
“As a result of the driver change, reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda will race for Racing Bulls in Zandvoort this weekend, alongside Arvid Lindblad,” the team confirmed in a statement.
Tsunoda had been serving as the reserve driver and now will get another chance to compete in a full Formula 1 weekend. Racing Bulls highlighted the rapid adaptation required in light of the unexpected reshuffle of the two teams’ lineups.

A Red Bull confirmed that Lawson will take over Hadjar’s RB22 at the Dutch Grand Prix and thanked the New Zealander for agreeing to the last‑minute substitution. At the same time, Racing Bulls thanked both Lawson and Tsunoda for being available to rearrange the pairings.

With this, the Zandvoort lineup will feature Lawson at Red Bull and Tsunoda back with Racing Bulls. Lindblad will continue in the other seat for the Faenza squad.
“We thank Liam and Yuki for their adaptability as the teams prepare for the weekend and we wish Isack a speedy recovery,” said Racing Bulls.
The change places Tsunoda back on the grid just as Formula 1 returns from the summer break, in a weekend that will begin with a lineup different from the one originally planned for Red Bull and Racing Bulls.
