Gabriel Bortoleto took part in a Pirelli test on Tuesday (the 28th). The Brazilian was at the Hungaroring for the first of two days of activity alongside Franco Colapinto and Jak Crawford, Aston Martin’s reserve, with the aim of developing the tires for the 2027 Formula 1 season.
The first session of activities occurred two days after the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Lando Norris took the victory, Max Verstappen finished in second place, and Kimi Antonelli completed the podium in Budapest.
Then, on this opening day of the activities, the trio ran through several variations of the new C3 compound, conducting race simulations to verify how the tire behaves and degrades over the laps. While Crawford followed his own program, Colapinto and Bortoleto also tested the C4 and C5 compounds in qualifying simulations.
The track conditions mirrored those of the race held last Sunday, the 26th. Temperature was 30°C and the asphalt reached around 53°C, which allowed Pirelli to collect important data on the behavior of the compounds.
At the end of Tuesday, Bortoleto was the most active, completing 141 laps, followed by 136 for Crawford and 128 for Colapinto. In terms of lap times, the Argentine was the fastest with 1:20.371, the Brazilian posted 1:20.813 and the Briton 1:24.598.
On Wednesday the 29th, the second and final day of the Pirelli tests at Hungaroring will take place. This time, only Bortoleto and Colapinto will participate.
