A story of resilience went viral in Argentina about a die-hard supporter of his national team who decided to watch the FIFA Men’s World Cup in the United States up close. Marcos Damián Viesti traveled more than 20,000 kilometers aboard a GR Yaris, after leaving Neuquén in Patagonia, passing through ten countries in the Americas, until arriving in Texas.

In an interview published on the official pages of Toyota (@toyotaargentina) and GAZOO Racing Argentina (@tgr_arg), Marcos explained how he faced this endurance challenge.

“The idea for the trip came from the desire to watch the national team’s game on June 16. I found the car I wanted, the ideal car for a trip like this. The GR Yaris behaves like a ‘slingshot’. You push the accelerator and it responds in every gear. Up to the fifth gear, it rockets as if you were starting a race. After that, the sixth, seventh and eighth are slower gears and the car completes them more quickly,” says Marcos, noting that his unit has an automatic transmission.
