F2: Rafael Câmara Secures Third-Row Start for Both Races in Austria

June 26, 2026

The driver representing Invicta Racing in the 2026 Formula 2 season, Rafael Câmara secured fifth place on the grid for the feature race of the championship’s sixth round at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The Brazilian, coming off a victory in the last round held in Barcelona, Spain, will start from the third row for both races of the weekend.

The day at the Spielberg circuit began with the Brazilian posting the fifth-best time in the only free practice session of the weekend. In qualifying, Câmara briefly found himself at the head of the times, but he could not improve his pace on his second fast lap. Consequently, the driver will start sixth in the Sprint and fifth in the main race.

“It was a somewhat turbulent qualifying, but one that produced a result that allows us to fight in both races. I think I have strong chances in both. By the end of the day we maintain the same mindset—to maximize what we can achieve—but there are certainly two races with plenty of opportunities to move forward. Of course, compared to Barcelona the tracks are different, but in the races we have always shown a good pace,” Câmara said.

In his first season in the principal category of Formula 2 after clinching the Formula 3 title in 2025, Câmara has been one of the strongest performers: he has one victory, three podium finishes, and eight top-ten finishes in ten races this year. As a result, the Brazilian sits third in the standings with 69 points.

The Formula 2 schedule will resume on Saturday (27) with the Sprint, slated for 9:15. The Austrian round will conclude on Sunday with the main race, scheduled for 5:10. Sportv, Globoplay and F1TV will broadcast the double-header.
