David Alonso claimed pole position for the Czech Republic Grand Prix, the ninth round of the Moto2 championship, this Saturday the 20th. In the final phase of qualifying held this morning at the Brno circuit, the Aspar team rider, who had already been the fastest in the free practice sessions, clocked his best lap at 1 minute 57.718 seconds, earning the pole position.
The second position on the grid went to Filip Salac, rider for American Racing Team who ended up 0.205 seconds behind Alonso. Daniel Holgado, on the other Aspar bike, completes the front row in third. Leader of the championship, Manuel González starts fourth, followed by Senna Agius, his teammate at Intact GP. Iván Ortolá, from MSI, closes the group of the six best on the grid.
Izan Guevara, riding a Pramac bike, will start seventh, sharing the third row of the grid with Celestino Vietti, on a SpeedRS bike, and Alex Escrig, from KLINT. Joe Roberts, from American Racing Team, starts tenth, with Zonta van der Goorbergh, from RW Racing Team, and Collin Veijer, from Ajo, rounding out the top-12 of the grid.
Moto2 holds its ninth round this Sunday (21), with the start scheduled for 7:15.
