Theóphile Nael won this Sunday (the 13th) the main race of the third round of the 2026 Formula 3 season, held at the Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain. The Campos Racing driver started from pole position, maintained the lead over the 25 laps of the race, and went on to win for the first time in this year’s championship.
The second place went to Hiyu Yamakoshi, a Van Amersfoort driver who could not mount a challenge on Nael during the race. The podium also included Ugo Ugochukwu, third with another Campos Racing car. Brando Badoer, driving for Rodin Motorsport, finished fourth, while Enzo Deligny, from Van Amersfoort, completed the top five after a late overtaking on the final lap.
Bruno Del Pino, in another Van Amersfoort car, finished sixth after reaching as high as third, with Ernesto Rivera, from Campos Racing, taking seventh. Punished with a five-second penalty, Freddie Slater ended eighth with Trident. Kanato Le, from ART Grand Prix, finished ninth, while Maciej Gladisz, also from ART Grand Prix, completed the top ten.
The Brazilians had a difficult Sunday in Barcelona and finished outside the points. Pedro Clerot, driving for Rodin Motorsport, crossed the line in 16th place, while Fernando Barrichello, the driver representing AIX Racing, completed the race in 24th position.
The race featured Virtual Safety Car activations on several occasions. On lap three, neutralization occurred due to debris on the track, while on the seventh lap a contact between Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi and Nicola Lacorte, DAMS drivers, caused the neutralization to remove the Italian’s car from the escape area. On lap 12, there was another activation due to debris on the track.
The next round of Formula 3 will be held on June 26, 27 and 28, at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
