24 Hours of Le Mans: Cadillac Leads Halfway Through the Race

Cadillac is leading the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world’s premier endurance race, at the halfway point of the contest. In a race that so far has seen the spotlight on the American manufacturer with cars from Team JOTA, Toyota, and BMW, the No. 38 car, driven by Jack Aitken, tops the standings, having first taken the lead as early as the fifth hour of the race.

Second place belongs to the other JOTA Cadillac, the No. 12, with Louis Deletraz at the wheel. Ryo Hirakawa, in the Toyota No. 8, appears in third place after 12 hours of racing, followed by Sheldon van der Linde, in fourth with the BMW No. 20. Ricky Taylor, in another Cadillac, this one from WTR, rounds out the top five. Pipo Derani, for Genesis, is 12th.

In the LMP2 class, the Le Mans lead at halfway belongs to Inter Europol, with Nico Müller at the controls. The Duqueine, driven by Doriane Pin, is second after leading most of the race. Tom Dillmann, also with Inter Europol, completes the top three. Vector Sport, with Pietro Fittipaldi, appears in fourth with Vladislav Lomko. Daniel Schneider, from United Autosport, is 17th.
