Round One of the Western Cape Regional Rally Championship kicked off on Valentine’s Day, and it was celebrated by having a number of premier class S2000 and N4 entries, WRITES EVAN ROTHMAN!
It was Jean-Pierre Damseaux and Patrick Vermaak (Team Total Evolution Toyota RunX S2000/S5) that proved victorious, winning nine of the ten stages in the Overberg region in the Western Cape. National competitors will need to be wary of Damseaux this season…

Mike Nathan / Derek Jacobs came home an impressive second overall
In the ex-Fernando Rueda Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX N4/S5 were Mike Nathan and Derek Jacobs who impressed in their first outing in the their new car to finish second overall. A further two minutes adrift in third place overall were Fernando Rueda / Cobus Very (Toyota RunX S2000/S5), who also debuted their new machine.

Abduraghman Amly and Yusuf Ganief (Amlay Motorsport Toyota RunX RSi N3/S4) finished fourth overall to soundly beat their N3/S4 rivals!

The Kwikfit Bredasdorp Rally, organised by the Witzenberg Motorklub, kicked off the 2009 Western Cape Regional Rally Championship in the best possible way with exciting rallying and a festive atmosphere: here’s to more of the same!
