1981 world rally champion Ari Vatanen has signalled his intention to run for the FIA presidency if current incumbent Max Mosley decides to stand again, according to The Guardian newspaper.
Vatanen stated that he felt it was time for a change and says that he has the backing of a number of member clubs if he decides to go for election.
Former MEP, Ari Vatanen, commented:
At the moment I am consulting the member clubs and am already seeing positive feedback. I am considering standing. I think the time has come for a change. I would go for it, even if not sure of winning.
Jean Todt is another person expected to run for president and is widely regarded as the natural successor to Max Mosley.
