Next year's Ulster International Rally is to relocate from Armagh to Antrim, writes Sammy Hamill in the Belfast Telegraph.

The August event, which is a round of the Irish Tarmac and British championship, is going back to its roots. It was originally created by Larne Motor Club as the Starlight and then Texaco rallies and ran through east and north Antrim areas.

In recent times it has been based in Armagh but now with the Holiday Inn at Junction One as the new headquaters.Toddsleap.com remains as main sponsor for the August 21/22 event with Michael Johnson as clerk of the course.

CoC Michael Johnson commented to the Belfast Telegraph:

Coming to Antrim has given us a great opportunity to select some really challenging roads, most of which will be a new test for our crews.

The selection of Antrim as our hosts will give the town and its businesses a real boost as well as providing a central location for the 16 stages we plan to use."
