Topaz Donegal International Rally 2009 – Route and Stage Details

donegallogo08 Topaz Donegal International Rally 2009 Route and Stage Details

The 2009 Topaz Donegal International Rally (19 – 21 June) is heading back to the Inishowen peninsula for the first time in seven years.

Day 1 will feature stages in this area with two runs over the classic Malin Head being the highlight of the leg. The second day will feature the traditional roads around Fanad and Knockalla amongst others.

On Sunday's final leg there will be a fresh challenge including an extended High Glen plus Atlantic Drive, which is to be run in reverse direction for the first time since 2000 and will be the last stage of the event.

Clerk of the Course, Danny Gormley, commented:

We are delighted with Topaz’s continued support of the Rally, particularly in the current economic climate. Ireland is known to have the best tarmac stages in world rallying. After a gap of 7 years the Topaz Donegal International Rally is going back to Inishowen for some of the most challenging and spectacular tests to be found anywhere. We have changed the rally route significantly for 2009 with many new stages and only three of those from last year. We believe the route will provide the drivers and indeed the spectators with some truly memorable rallying.
