erc Euro Rally Challenge Rallye Thüringen 2009: Erik Wevers secures victory

Erik Wevers took his Ford Focus RS WRC06 to victory on the Thüringen Rallye 2009 to increase his lead in the Euro Rally Challenge series after two rounds.

Wevers won the German event by over three minutes from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI of Marcus Hesse. Maik Stölzel was third in a Porsche 911 GT3 with Yorkshireman David Turnbull 4th in his Subaru S11 WRC. Dennis Kuipers took the S14 WRC into fifth spot despite losing much time on SS4.

Olaf Dobberkau was an initial threat to Wevers after setting fastest times on SS2 and 3 to lead the rally, but retired his Porsche 911 GT3 on the fourth stage with a broken driveshaft. Mark van Eldik suffered problems on SS4 and could only manage to finish in a lowly 16th O/A.
