Patrik Sandell to contest Rally Opatija 2009 in Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX
Patrik Sandell will contest the all-tarmac Rally Opatija in Croatia, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, to get some practice on asphalt once again.
Sandell’s hopes of lifting the PWRC title this year were made impossible following retirement on the Acropolis Rally with technical problems affecting Skoda Fabia S2000.

Kimi Raikkonen likely to contest more rallies despite crash on tarmac rally
Kimi Raikkonen at the weekend crashed out of his latest foray into the world of professional rallying.
The Ferrari driver, having entered two rounds of the Finnish rally championship in the winter, entered the same Tommi Makinen-prepared Fiat Abarth Grande Punto into the Rally della Marca.

Kimi Raikkonen crash SS3 Rally della Marca 2009 – video
Kimi Raikkonen’s asphalt rally debut came to an abrupt halt after he crashed out of the Rally della Marca on SS3 in his Abarth Grande Punto S2000.
The car suffered rear suspension damage following an impact with a stone wall, causing the right rear wheel to eventually come off and forcing Raikkonen to retire from the event.
