Freddy Loix set quickest time on the 1.7km superspecial stage, Grupo Marques 1, to open the Sata Rallye Acores 2009.
Loix was 0.2s faster than Kris Meeke with Nicolas Vouilloz third, making it a 1-2-3 for Kronos after the first stage. Skoda drivers Jan Kopecky and Juho Hanninen were third and fourth respectively with the Fabia S2000s.
