Vouilloz wins thrilling Madeira to take lead in IRC and record the closest ever finish in the series

Vouilloz (207) claimed victory by just 5.4s from Basso (Punto). Vouilloz, however, drove a consistent rally and didn’t score many fastest times compared to his persuers. It was tyre choice which ulimately came to Vouilloz’s advantage. Rally Vinho Madeira Day 1 and Vouilloz takes the lead on the final stage of the day

Nicolas Vouilloz took the lead in Madeira after Bruno Magalhaes ran into trouble on the last stage of the day with a puncture and slipped to 10th. Local, Alex Camacho is second and only 3.7s behind Vouilloz. Travaglia is having a battle of the Punto’s with Basso, both are 3rd and 4th. Loix and Rossetti are next up and are having a battle between the 207’s themselves.
