New Rally NZ development drive targets young Kiwi talent

In an effort to get some positive traction for rallying, after the news of Suzuki and Subaru’s withdrawal from the World Rally Championship (WRC), Rally New Zealand has announced a three-year initiative to develop young Kiwi talent. The scheme will invest around $150,000 a year in an attempt to find the Kiwi rallying equivalent of Scott Dixon and Brendon Hartley.

Suzuki World Rally Team representatives cautiously optimistic about the team’s participation in the 2009 WRC

According to GPWEEK.com the Suzuki WRT appear to be slightly guarded about their paricipation in the 2009 WRC.
Speaking to GP WEEK Suzuki Motor company representative Ryohei Matsumoto stated:
We are busy making plans for 2009 but there is no commitment at this time that we will continue in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Valentino Rossi will do Wales Rally GB 08 though what car he will use has yet to be decided upon

Valentino Rossi, the MotoGP superstar and Yamaha factory rider, will contest Wales Rally GB 2008 according to his father Graziano in Autosport. His father stated that he will do the Monza Rallysprint then Rally GB, though they haven’t decided which car Vale will use yet.
