Neste Oil Rally Finland 2009 suffers budget cut

This year’s Rally Finland has suffered a 40% budget cut from 2008, due to the recent downturn in the global economy, according to autosport.com.
Rally Finland event promoter, Jarmo Mahonen stated:
The economic recession is biting harder by the day in Finland. An obvious symptom of that is the fact that we have lost over 1,000 pre-booked VIP guests. Consequently, the event’s budget has now been slashed… Continue reading

Matti Rantanen is looking at the possibility of contesting the PWRC 2009
After his stunning 7th O/A in Rally Finland on his first appearance in a WRCar, Finn Matti Rantanen may have a crack at the PWRC next year, according to Motorsport News. He would like to do a WRC round this year in a world rally car but that looks unlikely at the moment a team spokesperson confirmed.

Rally Finland 2008 Day 1 and Loeb dominates with ten fastest stage times so far

Sebastien Loeb dominated proceedings posting ten fastest times so far. Hirvonen is second some 14s behind Loeb which is a big enough gap in Finland to make up but he promises to push tomorrow. Henning Solberg has displayed great pace to be in third just ahead of Galli and Sordo in 4th and 5th respectively. Matti Rantanen is doing well in 9th on his WRCar debut.
