World Rally Car S2000+ technical details announced following WMSC meeting

The new WRC technical regulations were rubber stamped today at the World Motor Sport Council meeting today.

As expected the new World Rally Cars will be based on the S2000 formula which will include an added bolt-on kit of performance parts.

The bolt-on kit of performance parts regulations have been altered from what had been originally considered, and there will now be no electronic benefits, or similar upgrades, permitted to keep costs down.

Autosport magazine published an article last week in which it followed up the recent WMSC decisions regarding the future of the WRCar.

VW may be interested to join the WRC as sports chief Kris Nissen was in Finland

Kris Nissen of Volkswagen was in Finland at the rally and had a meeting with ISC CEO Simon Long as well as the manufacturer team leaders, according to rallye-magazin.de.

Nissen asked the team bosses about the future marketing prospects and new technical regulations. Nissen’s presence was taken as indication that VW are seriously considering the WRC.
