The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400 is the fastest and most extreme version of Mitsubishi’s motorsport derived machine. With 403bhp and 387lb.ft of torque on offer from its advanced, lightweight aluminium 2.0-litre turbocharged MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) petrol engine the FQ-400 is able to reach 62mph from standstill in an estimated 3.8 seconds before reaching an electronically limited 155mph – where permitted.

Juha Kankkunen was already World Champion by that year’s RAC and  in typical Scandinavian conditions he was fortunate to stay out of trouble and take the win. Though it wasn’t as easy as that, as first he had a hard charging Colin McRae threatening for a first British victory since 1976, then he had a storming Kenneth Eriksson to contend with.

Mitsubishi UK select Gwyndaf Evans as Phillip Morrow’s replacement for the Ulster Rally 2008

Mitsubishi Motors UK has confirmed that it has entered a second car in the forthcoming Todds Leap Ulster Rally, round four of the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship, for Gwyndaf Evans.

The experienced Welshman, who drove for the Mitsubishi team last year, will be reunited with his former team-mate and current works driver Guy Wilks. He will occupy the seat in the second car following the recent departure… Continue reading
