Galway Rally 2009 Day 1 results and video: Eamonn Boland leads in his Subaru S12C WRC

Eamonn Boland, driving his Subaru S12C WRC, leads after the first day of the Safety Direct Galway International Rally 2009.

In torrential conditions Boland took the lead on SS1 and held it through the day, but  is coming under pressure from those behind as he lost time over the last couple of stages.

Contrary to press reports Juha Kankkunen will not be at the Schackleton Festival on July 18-20

Organisers of the Shackleton Festival have confirmed that four time World Champion Juha Kankkunen will not be appearing. It was thought he might be there driving a Peugeot 205 T16 E2, owned by James Tannahill of Curtis Cars Newtownabbey, but unfortunately this will not happen as Kankkunen has prior commitments.
