Guy Wilks was about to sign contract for third works Subaru before news of the withdrawal came through

Guy Wilks was taken by complete surprise by Subaru’s decision to pull out of the 2009 WRC, according to crash.net.
Wilks had planned to contest at least an eight round programme in a third works Subaru for next year’s world championship and was about to sign a contract with the team just hours after Subaru’s announcement on Tuesday.
He is now being forced to consider his options for the 2009 season .

Guy Wilks gets support for his 500 Club fund for a WRC drive next year
Guy Wilks has been receiving backing from many rally folk, for his “Back a Brit” campaign incorporating the Guy Wilks 500 Club, to get a works Subaru drive in the 2009 WRC. So far support and backing has come from the likes of Mikko Hirvonen, Petter Solberg, Steve Perez and the father of the late Richard Burns, Alex.

Guy Wilks launches Back the Brit campaign to try and secure Subaru drive in 09

Guy Wilks has launched his Back the Brit campaign to try and raise two million pounds to secure a drive in the Subaru Manufacturer Team next year. Subaru’s team director Richard Taylor stated they would be interested to run Wilks if he secured the budget and would give him equal machinery to Solberg and Atko, according to autosport.com.
