Manufacturer Teams will only have to contest eight WRC rounds in 2009

Manufacturer Teams planning to contest next year’s WRC will only have to eight events to be eligible for manufacturer championship points. This is due to there only being twelve rounds in the calendar for 2009. This could entice more teams to sign up to the championship. WRC Rally Ireland 2009 will also be a round of the Junior World Rally Championship

Rally Ireland 2009 is set to be a counting round of the JWRC, as well as the WRC, according to the FIA press release today, following the WMSC meeting. This will be the first time Rally Ireland has hosted the JWRC as was a round of the PWRC in 2007.
