The event would prove to be Pentti Airikkala’s (driving a Mitsubishi Galant VR4) first and only WRC win after coming so close on the rally before. Carlos Sainz in the TTE Celica GT4 lead for much of the rally until his propshaft broke near the finish, leaving him in tears.

Gronholm has to make up his mind about tackling an entire ERC season in 09 by the end of November

Marcus Gronholm has been give a deadline of the end of November to accept an offer to tackle the entire European Rallycross Championship in 2009, writes Motorsport News.

Network Q RAC Rally 1993: Juha Kankkunen wins a very snowy RAC in his Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD

Juha Kankkunen was already World Champion by that year’s RAC and  in typical Scandinavian conditions he was fortunate to stay out of trouble and take the win. Though it wasn’t as easy as that, as first he had a hard charging Colin McRae threatening for a first British victory since 1976, then he had a storming Kenneth Eriksson to contend with.
