Carlos Sainz extended his lead to over ten minutes on stage 8, from Valparaiso to La Serena in Chile, of the Dakar Rally 2009.

He finished the stage ahead of his VW team-mates, Dieter Depping and Mark Miller, to lead the event from Giniel de Villiers. Sainz was only 10s ahead of De Villiers after stage 7 but a dominant display on the eighth test saw him cement… Continue reading

Carlos Sainz was back in the lead of the Dakar 2009 after stage 7 to move ahead of his team-mate Giniel de Villiers by a scant 9s overall.

Mark Miller is third in his VW Touareg ahead of the Mitsubishi of Nani Roma with Bobby Gordan fifth in his big Hummer.
