Carlos Sainz continues to hold a firm grasp of the Dakar 2009 after winning both stages 9 and 10 of the Dakar 2009  in Chile.

Mark Miller is second for VW nearly 30 mins behind though the gap would have been closer but for damaging the suspension on stage 9. Giniel de Villiers is now down to third as Volkswagen continue to dominate… Continue reading

VM-Motorsport Dakar Day 4: Trouble free day for Van Merksteijn and Kuipers

Today, the Dakar Rally travelled further inland in Argentina and with a special stage of 380km and a liaison of over 100km arrived in the town of Neuquen. For Peter van Merksteijn and René Kuipers it was a touch day but once again the BMW X3CC didn’t cause any problems and the Dutch drivers finished the day on a 14th and 19th position.

Some pictures from Dakar 2009 on days 3 and 4 of some of the Dutch competitors taken by esteemed photographer and Dakar veteren Willy Weyens.

Photos include, van Merksteijn, Kuipers, ten Harkel, Coronel, Brusselers, Vanierschot, Vandeyne and Bezemer in the MAN truck.

The Van Merksteijn team are having a particularly impressive debut on their Dakar debut as you can read in the press releases supplied to RallyBuzz.
