Proton Super 2000 expected to tackle the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship next year with Alister McRae
The Proton Satria Neo S2000 is expected to contest the APRC next year with McRae at the wheel. The car, which was homologated on the 1st August by MEM, will be tested by Alister later this month according to Autosport UK.
McRae commented to Autosport:

Lotus could be building Proton Satria S2000 engine
Lotus could be developing and building the Proton Satria’s engine according to various sources. It was first thought MEM would use a Renault unit as other Proton models use one but recently Lotus have been linked with the S2000 project. Meanwhile Karamjit Singh, the 3 times APC champion and one time PWRC champion, has been linked as the main test and development driver. Singh could contest some events in the car… Continue reading

MEM Proton Satria Neo S2000 due for homologation 1st July
MEM, who developes and builds the Proton S2000, is aiming to have ten cars built by the 1st July 08 for homologation. The car, which is based on the Satria Neo model, is due for testing soon and should make it’s debut later in the year.
