Subaru WRT managing director Richard Taylor has stated to crash.net that he remains optimistic about running a third car next year and that an announcement will be made pretty soon.

He also added that Guy Wilks was still in the frame for the seat and negotiations are still ongoing with him.

Taylor commented to crash.net:

We are talking to a number of people. We are optimistic that we will be able to finalise something fairly soon. It is still very much our wish to run a third car next year.

Guy is one of the people we are talking to and as always at this time of year everybody is looking at the options that they have got and what they will be doing next season. He is definitely in contention and as I said, is one of the guys we are in talks with."

It had been suggested recently by autosport.pt that Guy Wilks will get the third works Subaru seat for ten rounds in the 2009 WRC.
