Suzuki company bosses delayed an announcement regarding their future participation in the WRC at Rally Japan.
According to Motorsport News, Suzuki were expected to announce plans to sit out the 2009 season before returning in 2010 with a new SX4, in line with the new proposed technical regulations.
This didn't happen, though hopes have been raised about the team returning in 2009 after they scored their best WRC result on home soil, with Andersson fifth and Gardemeister sixth.
A team insider, still in the dark about a decision, commented to MN:
We still don't know what is happening. Maybe there will be some news before Rally GB because we need to know soon."
WRCC president Morrie Chandler met with Suzuki officials in Japan last week and said he was confident they will continue next season.
Chandler said in MN:
They seem enthusiastic about continuing and sounded a lot more positive than they did a quater of the way through this year."
