Subaru S14 WRC test Finland with Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson

Posted by Scott Coursey 8 July, 2008

Subaru have been testing in Finland this week with Petter Solberg driving today and tomorrow, while Atko tested on Sunday and Monday. The test appears to be going well and the car looked much quicker compared to the recent tarmac test undertaken by Markko Martin in Italy. Petter looks much more positive and focused now and seems to like the new car. Subaru team director Richard Taylor said to autosport.com that the test in Finland has been going very positive and were testing the speed of the car as opposed to the reliability.

Taylor has recently gone on record stating that the teams objectives have changed and the drivers can now go flat out for podiums. He wants the drivers to go for stage wins and overall victories. The emphasis is now on pace  as the car is benefitting from better weight distribution which the drivers have commented on. Some weight has been lost to increase the performance of the car and minor aero changes are expected later in the season.
