In an interview with wrc.com, Subaru's Team director Richard Taylor admitted that there could be five or six Subaru World Rally Cars competing on next year's WRC.
Richard Taylor speaking to wrc.com about the possibility of running more cars:
We've always said we'd like to see five or six Subaru World Rally Cars running in total. So far we have the two-car Adapta M2 team - a satellite operation - already lining itself up.
We wouldn't expect to run more than three or four cars ourselves, whether as an 'in-house' M2 team or simply as additional SWRT cars. We could run a third car for sure; we've done it plenty of times. We could potentially run a fourth car as well; we're fairly flexible."
Taylor added in the interview that Petter and Chris were contracted for next year and he couldn't confirm who may drive the other cars, but admitted that Guy Wilks and Brice Tirabassi were in negotiations with the team.
Taylor also stated that the new Ohlins dampers would be homologated from Jan 1st 09 and would most likely be used for the first time in the first half of the 2009 season.
Meanwhile, Marcus Gronholm has apparently now indicated that he won't be driving in the WRC next year according to a Finnish newspaper.
