Petter Solberg has admitted that he will not be competing on WRC Rally Ireland 2009

Petter Solberg has confirmed to Norwegian newspaper VG NETT that he will not be contesting Rally Ireland 2009, but he is determined to start in Rally Norway.
With the deadline for Rally Ireland entries tomorrow (24.12.08) Solberg states that he doesn't have a package in place and will not be there.

Petter Solberg expressed his disappointment at not making the Rally Ireland deadline:
I am disappointed and sorry. It is hard to believe that Rally Ireland goes without me and that I will not be on the starting line while all the other top drivers are there."
After Subaru decided to withdraw their manufacturers team from next years season, Solberg has been working intensively to secure a deal outside the team. Preferably in a Subaru, but most importantly; In a competitive car with an opportunity for top placements.
Everything has to be a 100% ready, otherwise there's no point. Unfortunately I can't sort that in time for the deadline."
Yes. That's my next goal. But with christmas and lots of bank holidays, it's not really a lot of time until the deadline on the 8th. of January.
Do you have time to enjoy christmas at all?
So far the only tradition I've had time to follow through with, has been chopping down a christmas tree. I took the time of to do that with my son, Oliver (7) Other than that I haven't thought about christmas. Every waking hour has gone working towards a start in Rally Ireland. There is a lot of things that are well and sorted. Among other things Sponsors are ready, But like I said, I want everything sorted before I come to start."
The deadline date of entries recieved for Rally Norway is the 8.2.09.
