Skoda Fabia S2000 plans revealed and some recent testing
Some more detail has been released about the Skoda Super 2000 project on rally-mania.cz. The info was released at the recent Skoda presentation and press conference. Apparently there are currently three chasis in use for testing purposes, two black ones and a white "evo" one. The new "evo" model will closely resemble the car's final design.

Skoda state the car will not be ready for competition this year but will concentrate on testing and will run as a zero car on some events. The car could debut on the IRC Monte Carlo Rally 2009 but nothing has been confirmed only that 2009 will see it compete for the first time.
They have set the Peugeot 207 S2000 as the benchmark as have much insider knowledge with Jan Kopecky. The Fabia has a shorter wheelbase than the 207 but the car is heavier and has a weaker engine at the minute. One thing Skoda believe is that it handles well due to a good chasis.

Skoda wouldn't confirm if they would be back as a manufacturer but stated it was a desire. It would appear though they will be in the IRC next year in one form or another.
Meanwhile Skoda have been testing in the Czech Republic with Raimund Baumschlager at the wheel of the white car on Monday and Tuesday. They were testing on a stage used by last weekend's Bohemia Rally.
