Organisers of the East African Safari Rally have been urged by the Kenyan government to do all it can to get the event back on the WRC calendar according to MN. Vice- president Stephen Kalonzo made the request to the Kenyan Motor Sports Federation at the start of last weekend's KCB Safari Rally. The government is calling on commercial organisations to help fund the bid. The Safari hasn't been a round of the WRC since 2002.
Last year the government gave approximately £38,000 to the event to help it secure an IRC slot. IRC officials state they would consider a return next year as the event was absent from the series this year.
