Markko Martin (pictured above collecting his winners' trophy with Alex Burns and Robert Reid) won the inaugural Richard Burns Memorial Rally piloting a SWRT S14 WRC. It wasn't about the win though, they were all present to pay tribute to their much missed friend Richard.
The single venue rally was two days long and based at RAF Marham in Norfolk. One of the favourites, Mark Jasper, retired his Metro 6R4 early on as went OTL but another Metro grabbed second. Tom Morris was the man who got second ahead of Dick Mauger in a Focus WRC. Fourth went to Howard Chopping in his 555 Impreza and fifth was Ray Brammer in a Subaru WRC.

From a marshal point of view I really enjoyed the event and hope that it will held next year.
The venue was very well laid out considering that it was an active RAF base,
Two negative points,
Was a shame that the awards could not have been presented at the spectator area.
As a memorial to Richard it was also a shame that the event did’nt attract a few more well known rally stars, comparing that to the forthcoming Colin memorial stages.
