IRC Rallye International du Valais 2008 Entry List and Preview

Rallye du Valais 2008 this weekend is the penultimate round of the IRC series this season and the title is still to be decided between Nicolas Vouilloz and Giandomenico Basso. Vouilloz though, has a greater advantage going into this event and Basso really needs to win the last two rallies to have any realistic chance of lifting the drivers' crown.

Peugeot have already clinched the title but Abarth have decided to add a third car for this event with Umberto Scandola joining Basso and Alen in the ranks for this event. The Rene Georges team have decided to scrap plans to enter the rally with a Polo so the only other S2000 manufacturer entered is that of MSD with Stuart Jones at the wheel of a Hankook sponsored MG ZR S2000.

There are 13 S2000's entered with the likes of Loix, ERC champ Rossetti, Toth, Bouffier who is back in a Pug after his Proton outing last week, Toth, Burri, Hotz and the others mentioned above.

Eurosport are providing extensive live coverage of the stages this time instead of the usual service park live feeds.

There have been a few notable past winners of the rally which include drivers such as Jimmy McRae, Per Eklund, Patrick Snijers, Robert Droogmans and Andrea Aghini. Local Swiss ace Olivier Burri as won the event a record eight times and is armed with a 207 S2000 for this year's event.
