Rally Vinho da Madeira 2008 and Markku Alen will run as zero car while his son is replaced due to ill health
The latest round of the IRC travels to the island of Madeira this week and sees legend Markku Alen drive a Fiat 500 Abarth as course car. Anton, Markku's son, has had to be replaced by Umberto Scandola in the Abarth squad due to a viral infection. It had been suggested he was replaced due to his lack of pace on tarmac currently.

The IRC driver's title remains close and expect a battle between the main contender's such as Vouilloz, Rossetti, Loix et al. Local drivers Bruno Magalhaes and Alex Camacho should also be in contention for overall honours. Also, Renato Travaglia can not be discounted as he pilots a Punto in this event.
