Subaru Rally Team Canada’s Pat Richard and Alan Okwell won the Rally of the Tall Pines to claim the 2009 Canadian Rally Championship.

They were lucky to win though, as title rivals Antoine L'Estage and Nathalie Richard suffered heartbreak just two stages from home. The Coyote Rallye team pair had been leading when their Mitsubishi Lancer EvoX developed clutch problems, relegating them to fifth place at the finish.

Andrew Comrie-Picard claimed second spot in the NOS Energy Mitsubishi Lancer EvoX, while CRC returnee and legend Frank Sprongl brought his Subaru Rally Team Canada Impreza home in a highly creditble third place overall. 

“It's a fantastic way to finish the season,” said Pat Richard. “We were pushing hard and might have caught Antoine, but we'll never know.”
