The 2009 IRC Champion profited from this weekend's RAC MSA Rally of Scotland to pick up his fifth win of the season, ahead of fellow Brits Guy Wilks (Skoda) and Alister McRae (Proton).

BFGoodrich runners once again monopolised the podium after dominating their rivals over the muddy and slippery Scottish stages. The campaign which has just come to a close saw BFGoodrich win all the IRC rounds it contested in association with its partners Peugeot, Abarth and Skoda.

The second day's forest stages in the Trossachs National Park were different in character to those of the opening leg, and it was the first time they had been used in anger for more 20 years, yet they had little effect on the overnight order.

At the wheel of his Peugeot 207 S2000 running on BFGoodrich's brand new extra-soft compound GZG3 tyre, Kris Meeke was able to control from in front. His main threat Guy Wilks (Skoda/BFGoodrich) posted the fastest time on the day's first test, but the Peugeot UK driver responded on the next two tests to establish a gap of around 20 seconds.

The second visit to the same three stages was a mere formality for the Ulsterman and his co-driver Paul Nagle who went on to collect their fifth success of the year. Alister McRae (Proton/BFGoodrich) joined Meeke and Wilks on the podium to provide the Malaysian carmaker with its best finish of the year.

Although absent from the Scottish round, Jan Kopecky (Skoda/BFGoodrich) and Freddy Loix (Peugeot/BFGoodrich) joined Meeke on the 2009 IRC Drivers' podium, while Peugeot and BFGoodrich dominated the Manufacturers' standings for the third year running.

In association with its official partners – Peugeot, Skoda, Abarth and Proton – BFGoodrich won all the events in which it took part. The American brand's asphalt and gravel range delivered competitive, consistent performance on all the terrains they tackled, from the snow and ice of the Rallye Monte-Carlo and the soft, fast gravel stages of Brazil, to the hard-wearing asphalt of the Rallye Sanremo and the muddy Scottish forests. The same 'customer competition' range of tyres is available over the counter in a variety of sizes for privateer competitors, and this allowed BFGoodrich to win the two-wheel drive crown, too, with Frenchman Denis Millet and his Peugeot 207, as well as the Group R3 standings in Sanremo despite extremely fierce opposition.

Next year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge will begin with the Rallye Monte-Carlo which once again promises to provide an extremely spectacular and challenging route. Meanwhile, BFGoodrich and its staff are already hard at work developing new products with a view to giving its partners the very best chances of further title honours in 2010.
