World Rally Championship – (WRC) Rally Ireland 2009 preview videos
Rally Ireland will launch the 2009 World Rally Championship on the 29th January and the event is set, once again, to be a daunting challenge for the world's top crews.
The competitors will face totally unique roads not seen anywhere else on the WRC and despite what is expected to be a rather meagre entry, there will still be thrilling action to witness over the unforgiving terrain. Also, the addition of the live for TV Donegal Town stage, which will conclude the event, should rekindle old Circuit of Ireland and Donegal Rally memories of the once commonplace street stages.
On top of that there is the Slowly Sideways group (variety of topline rally cars mainly from the 70's and 80's), who are expected to be coming over and traversing the stages, in demonstration form, ahead of the competing cars. It is therefore a privilege for Ireland to host the opening round of the WRC, even in these times of crisis for the beleaguered series and also with the problems the event has endured recently.
The Rally Ireland videos below demonstrate precisely what this event has to offer the world of rallying and why it was voted the 2nd best rally in the WRC 2007 by the FIA, with also the largest global television audience for the series that year.
So now is the time to get fully behind and support this great adventure for Irish motorsport, thus ensuring Rally Ireland continues to gain worldwide recognition as a top class sporting occasion.
