
According to Motorsport News doubts have been raised about the ability of Indonesia to host a WRC event in May 2010 after it emerged that the rally last month didn't come up to FIA requirements. The FIA would not officially comment on the situation.
The observers report apparently detailed several safety flaws, which included issues such as animals loose on the stages and a lack of medical and rescue services. Concerns were also raised about the nature and condition of the roads that run through cane plantations in South Sulawesi.
Prodrive boss Dave Richards, speaking to MN, cautioned against criticism of the event at this stage:
It's too early to pre-judge an event that's two years off.
We've had examples of events that even I was sceptical about proving to be capable."
