Latvala's Rally Finland 2008 dream is over as he crashed on SS3 after hitting a rock and damaging the suspension on the previous corner. It isn't known if Jari will start under SupeRally tomorrow.

Jari's quote to crash.net

I approached a left-right-left combination of bends and decided to keep the car as straight as I could," Jari explained. "But I hit a rock, which wasn't in my pace notes, with the front right of the car.

"The handling felt strange immediately afterwards and suddenly I was thrown off the road into the ditch where the car half-rolled and hit a small tree. The data shows I was doing 117kph when I went off."

Meanwhile, Loeb has been dominating this morning's stages and holds a 8.4s lead over Mikko Hirvonen after SS8. Galli has moved up to 3rd ahead of Sordo.

In other WRC news:

It now transpires that Mikko Hirvonen's Finland test last week was cut short on the first day, not because of rain, but was due to a broken propshaft. According to a source present, Ford were testing a new lightweight propshaft of which three are only available. The other two were on the Rally Finland works cars so there was concern this might affect the Finland test schedule. It ended up they just used the old propshaft and Ford were able to complete the rest of the schedule.
