In an article in Autosport magazine IRC organisers are looking for an event in Britain next year and could revive the "RAC Rally" name for an event in central England to be run in May or June.

An event based around Perth in Scotland was originally thought to be a contender after an application to the Scottish government was made for funding, but it now appears a rally in England is the favourite for an IRC slot in 2009.

The R.A.C. acronym is used today for the current Roger Albert Clark Rally which attempts to recreate some elements of the former RAC Rally.
