Olivier Quesnel appointed as director of both Citroen Sport and Peugeot Sport

Olivier Quesnel is to take up the new role as director of both Citroen Sport and Peugeot Sport from 1st January 2009, according to wrc.com.
Quesnel has been director of Citroen Sport since January 2008 and was involved in the setting up of Peugeot Talbot Sport with Jean Todt in 1980.
PSA Peugeot Citroen group issued a statement saying Quesnel’s appointment would hopefully enable it to achieve two objectives. The first objective being to ensure the success of both brands in their respective motorsport disciplines. The second to develop synergy between the two concerns and optimise costs.
Quesnel commented on his appointment:
I am very proud to have been appointed director of Citroen Sport and Peugeot Sport. I know the latter well having started my career with this team. I will do everything in my power to enable Peugeot Sport to surpass the results it has already achieved.
The potential is definitely there: the 908 HDi FAP is competitive and everyone in the team is extremely committed. I am counting on their continuing motivation and determination to help me rise to this exciting new challenge just as successfully as we have done at Citroen Sport.
As for Citroen, I am confident that we have the capacity to repeat the exceptional results we obtained in 2008, namely the Manufacturers' WRC title for the brand and the Drivers' and Co-drivers' world crowns for Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena for the fifth year running."
Olivier Quesnel has stated recently that Sebastien Loeb will have more opportunities to test the Le Mans Peugeot 908 HDI in 2009. It has also been speculated that the PSA group might consider other motorsport disciplines such as the DTM or possibly a Formula 1project in the near future.
